Northwestern Resumes Action at WUSTL Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Fresh off of spring break, Northwestern returned to competition this weekend at the WUSTL Invitational hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, where freshmen Andrea Ostenso and Jena Pianin walked away with victories in the 10K and 5K, respectively.
On Friday evening, Ostenso took the top spot in a 10K field of 23 runners with her time of 36:10, while teammate Elena Barham claimed third in the race in a time of 36:43.
In the 5K, Pianin bested a large field thanks to her effort of 17:16.46 and was joined in the event's top 10 by teammates Camille Blackman (fifth, 17:25.4) and Megan O'Brien (sixth, 17:31.9).
On Saturday, sophomore Rachel Weathered carried the flag for the Wildcats by placing second in the 1,500-meter race with a personal best time of 4:38.0, less than three seconds off the lead.
Complete results from the WUSTL Invitational are linked in HTML format at the top of the page. The Wildcats are set to resume competition next weekend, staying local to race in the Wheaton Invite in Wheaton, Ill., on Saturday (April 5).
