Northwestern Rakes in NFHCA Academic Honors

EVANSTON, Ill. - Thirteen members of the Northwestern field hockey program have been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) by being named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
To qualify for selection to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, a student-athlete must have compiled a GPA of at least 3.30 during the first academic period of the 2013-14 school year.
In addition, Maria Kovalchuk was recognized as Scholar of Distinction for having achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year. It is the second straight year that Kovalchuk has earned the special distinction.
Northwestern was honored with the National Academic Team Award. The honor is bestowed upon each team that achieved a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
