TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - A doubles championship for the freshman duo of Alex Chatt and Rheeya Doshi highlighted Northwestern's trip to the Roberta Alison Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday.
The tandem survived a back and forth affair against Yasmeen Ebada and Carita Moolman from Samford, winning 8-7 (4) to earn a spot in Saturday's finale. Chatt and Doshi matched up against conference foes in Michigan's Kristen Dodge and Sara Remynse and came away with an 8-6 victory for the championship.
A pair of Wildcats earned third-place finishes in their respective draws. Erin Larner went up against Mira Ruder-Hook of Michigan. Larner dropped the first set but bounced back for a couple of convincing 6-1 set victories. Doshi was a straight set winner over Courtney Wild from Ball State, taking both by 6-1 scores.
Lok Sze Leung and Brooke Rischbieth played in the semifinals of the doubles "A" draw at the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational on Saturday in Orlando, Fla. Leung and Rischbieth were matched up against the event's third-seeded duo in Daneika Borthwick and Emily Fanning from Florida State. The Seminole duo was a 6-2, 6-2 winner, ending the NU run in Orlando.
The `Cats wrap up the fall season at home, hosting the Wildcat Fall Duals next weekend. The duals run from Friday, Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 9 and will be played inside the Combe Tennis Center.
