URBANA, Ill. - Alicia Barnett and Brooke Rischbieth teamed up to advance to the Round of 16 in the doubles draw of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Urbana, Ill. on Friday.

After receiving a first round bye, Barnett and Rischbieth matched up against Karolina Maksimava and Martina Zerbola of Akron. The Northwestern duo scored a convincing 8-4 win to move on to Saturday's Round of 16 where they will meet Melissa Kopinski and Louise Kwong from host Illinois.

The other Wildcat tandem of Lok Sze Leung and Jillian Rooney also received a first-round bye but were narrowly defeated 8-6 by DePaul's Yuliya Shupenia and Rebeca Mitrea.

The main draw of singles will also begin on Saturday. Rischbieth is set to play Lexi Baylis from Michigan State in the first round. Rooney will match up against Kristy Dodge of Michigan. Barnett and Leung both received first-round byes.
