Action Draws to a Close at UVA Fall Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Northwestern finished play at the Virginia Fall Invite on Sunday and heads back home to Evanston to begin preparing for the ITA Midwest Regionals next weekend in Champaign, Ill.

Northwestern won three of four matches in doubles play on Sunday. Manon Peri and Erin Larner teamed up for an 8-3 win over Alexandra Stanova and Kristina Hovsepyan of Maryland in the final of the Orange flight backdraw. Leung and Jillian Rooney earned a decisive 8-1 victory in the Blue flight, while Alex Chatt and Brooke Rischbieth took an 8-3 decision.

The Wildcats saw limited action in singles play on the event's final day. In the Blue Flight, NU senior Lok Sze Leung took on Meghan Blevins from South Carolina in the final. Blevins won a tough match by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Rheeya Doshi competed in the backdraw of the flight on Sunday. Doshi overcame a first-set defeat to beat Mia Jurasic, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.

NU is back at it on Thursday, Oct. 16 with the team traveling to Champaign, Ill. for the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by the University of Illinois.
