NU Looks Strong at UVA Fall Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Lok Sze Leung advanced to the final round of her draw on Saturday, highlighting a successful second day for the Northwestern women's tennis team at the Virginia Fall Invite.

Leung won two matches on Saturday to advance through her bracket. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Marie Faure of Virginia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Leung then had to challenge teammate Erin Larner in the semifinal after Larner knocked off Maryland's Maddie Silver, 6-2, 6-2. Leung and Larner played a competitive match, and Leung came away with a 7-6, 6-2 victory.

In the backdraw, Rheeya Doshi won consecutive matches over Ivana Yukovic from Old Dominion and Natalie Looney of South Carolina. Jillian Rooney also won both of her matches on Saturday, taking down Marija Bogicevic of Marshall and Arkansas' Mia Jurasic 1-6, 6-3, 6-0.

In the other flight, Alicia Barnett split a pair of matches, winning in the quarterfinal against host Virginia's Skylar Morton before falling to another Cavalier in Stephanie Nauta. Brooke Rischbieth knocked off a couple of opponents in the backdraw to advance to the consolation final on Sunday.

Final rounds of doubles and singles will be played Sunday. Doubles play will begin at 9 a.m.
