EVANSTON, Ill. - Fresh off a dominant weekend in which they shut out two ranked opponents and qualified for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, the Northwestern women's tennis team will play host to No. 15 Vanderbilt Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Combe Tennis Center.

The match between the No. 16 Wildcats and the Commodores is a preview of the competition featured at the ITA Indoors, as both teams will be participants at the tournament in Charlottesville, Va on Feb. 7.

Vanderbilt is the third-straight ranked team the `Cats play to open the 2014 season. Last weekend NU beat No. 29 Oklahoma State 4-0 before knocking off No. 26 Arizona State by the same score.

Veronica Corning was named the Big Ten Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday after her performance at ITA Kickoff Weekend, beating two top-60 opponents. With a singles lineup featuring Corning, Belinda Niu, Alicia Barnett, Lok Sze Leung, Jillian Rooney and Manon Peri, Northwestern lost just one set over the course of 12 matches.

NU boasts three ranked doubles teams. Corning and Barnett are the No. 35 ranked tandem in the nation, while Niu and Maddie Lipp are No. 45, and Hamilton and Brooke Rischbieth are No. 54. Niu is the lone-ranked singles player, coming in at No. 105.

The Commodores arrive in Evanston sporting a 2-0 record after their ITA Kickoff Weekend in Lincoln, Neb. VU beat Texas Tech on the opening day 4-1 and then moved past Georgia Tech 4-3 to qualify for a trip to Virginia.

Vanderbilt has four singles players in the top 125. Georgina Sellyn is No. 48, Lauren Mira is No. 61, Sydney Campbell is No. 78, and Ashleigh Antal is No. 102. Antal and Campbell make up the No. 28 ranked doubles team in the country, while Mira and Courtney Colton are the No. 36 ranked duo.
