Komoto Wins Hawaii State Women's Match Play

OAHU, Hawaii - Northwestern incoming freshman Kacie Komoto continues her stellar summer on the course as she recently won the 2013 Hawaii State Women's Match Play Championship. Played at the Oahu Country Club, Komoto defeated the defending champion, Casey Isgawa,  2-1 to capture the title.

The tournament ran from July 17-19 and Komoto also defeated Cyd Okino, who will be a junior at the University of Washington in the fall, 3-1 and Han Sol Koo, 3-1.

Earlier this month, Komoto won her U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier at the Honolulu Country Club. She carded a 70 to punch her ticket to the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, her second trip to the tournament, which runs Aug. 5-11 at The Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina.

Komoto's Hawaii Women's Match Play title adds to an impressive resume for the incoming freshman that includes two Hawaii Girl's Golf State Titles at Punahou High School and an Antigua National High School Championship.
