Wildcats Venture to Whitewater for Next Spring Meet Saturday

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Cross Country will continue its slate of spring track meets as it travels to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater this Saturday to participate in the Drake Alternative Invite. The Wildcats are sending 12 runners to compete and will face contenders from at least five other Midwest colleges and universities.
To start for Northwestern, six representatives will race in the 1,500-meter at 2:20 p.m. Freshman Rachel Weathered leads the heat seeded first, with senior Nicole Oliver, sophomore Elizabeth Fierro and freshmen Megan O'Brien, Niki Rhyan and Erica Grubbs also competing. The first-year trio of Weathered, Rhyan and Grubbs will also race in the 800-meter event at 3:45 p.m.
At 4:45 p.m., the 'Cats have a total of nine runners in the 5K, all of whom are seeded in the top 13. Northwestern takes the first four slots with senior Julia Buford followed by O'Brien, Oliver, and freshman Camille Blackman.
