GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Northwestern led Furman, 4-2, in the top of the fifth inning in Greenville, S.C. before the game was cancelled by snow. The delay lasted approximately 90 minutes before officials made the decision to send the teams home.

NU's Kyle Ruchim continued his hot start against the Paladins. The junior was 2-3 in the game with two triples and three RBI, but those statistics unfortunately are wiped out by the cancellation.

The second game of the day scheduled to be played by Miami (OH) and Michigan State was also postponed by the inclement weather.

The Wildcats conclude the First Pitch Invitational on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT against the Michigan State Spartans. Sophomore Brandon Magallones is slated to make his first start of the season for Northwestern. He led the Wildcats pitching staff with seven wins and 67 strikeouts in 2012.
