EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Cross Country will be well represented at the second-annual NIU Community Run hosted by Northern Illinois Friday afternoon. The open meet begins at 4:30 p.m. CT and will see the Wildcats compete on the 5K NIU North 40 Cross Country Course.
The event represents a culmination to the 2013 season for many of Northwestern's younger competitors, with the remainder of the varsity lineup in preparations for next week's NCAA Midwest Regional Championship at Iowa State University. No team points will be kept for the meet.
This is also a unique event in that it is open to community runners of all levels. Registration for the 5K is free for community runners, with donations appreciated.
