EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern held Chicago State to just 33 points as three Wildcats scored in double figures in Wednesday night's 64-33 victory. The Wildcats limited Chicago State to just 22.9 percent from the field (11-of-48) and their 33 points scored were an opponent low in the Joe McKeown era and fewest points scored by a Wildcat foe since Northeastern Illinois tallied 20 points on Nov. 22, 1985.

Freshman guard Christen Inman led the way with 18 points and she added five rebounds. Big Ten Freshman of the Week Nia Coffey had her first career double-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds, along with two assists, three blocks and four steals. Maggie Lyon added a solid 13 points and four rebounds of her own.

After a bucket by Chicago State to start the game Northwestern quickly found its stride, scoring 14 unanswered points just two minutes into the first half. Northwestern went on to shoot 43 percent from the field. Coffey and Lyon both scored eight points and had two steals with Coffey throwing in nine rebounds. The visiting team could not get past Northwestern's solid defense, being held to just 12 points going into the second half.

The Cougars came out of halftime fighting, but were unable to break Northwestern's momentum. Chicago State managed to break the gap down to 23 points, the smallest of the half, but the `Cats answered with a layup by Coffey. The second half saw more of the same efforts from the Wildcats who continued to widen their lead and finish with the 64-33 victory to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Northwestern continues its four-game homestand and will be back in Welsh Ryan Arena Sunday when they take on UNLV. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CT.
