Huth Leads Wildcats at Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Northwestern senior Audrey Huth ran to an impressive second-place finish against a competitive Big Ten-laden field, leading all NU finishers in the Spartan Invitational Friday afternoon in East Lansing. Huth posted a time of 21:16 in Northwestern's initial 6K event of the year.
Junior Lexie Goldsmith was NU's second finisher with her time of 22:06, good for 26th place overall. A pair of Wildcat upperclassmen -- junior Michelle Moriset (22:12) and senior Sophie Ewald (22:14) -- followed Goldsmith across the line in 29th and 31st overall.
Freshman Elena Barham posted a time of 22:25 in her 6K collegiate debut, while Libby Kocha finished in step with Barham in 22:26 -- a 6K cross country personal-best for the junior from Burlington, Wis -- to round out Northwestern's top six finishers.
No team scores were kept at the Spartan Invite, which included representatives from Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami (Ohio) and several other colleges from the Michigan area. Complete individual results are available in the PDF linked at the top of the page.
Northwestern has two weeks before lining up for its next meet, which is set for Friday, Sept. 28 at the Notre Dame Invitatioanl in South Bend.
