EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern brings its 2012 season to a close as it hosts Saint Louis in a three-game nonconference series at Rocky Miller Park. Thursday's series-opener gets underway at 3 p.m., as does Friday's contest. Saturday's finale is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

The Wildcats will honor eight individuals in Senior Day ceremonies following Saturday's contest.

After defeating Indiana 4-3 the opening game of its final Big Ten series last weekend, the Wildcats dropped the final two games, 5-2 and 2-1. Northwestern also fell to Notre Dame at home on Tuesday, 9-4.

Paul Snieder has had a flair for the dramatic. In two of his first three years, he ended Northwestern's regular season with a game-winning, walk-off home run. As a freshman, Snieder's solo home run gave the Wildcats a 6-5 win over Michigan. The following year with a Big Ten tournament berth on the line, Snieder socked a three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth to give NU an 8-6 victory over Michigan State.

Scouting Saint Louis
The Billikens (38-15, 17-7 Atlantic 10) have won eight straight and 12 of their last 13, including an 8-5 win over Southern Illinois on Tuesday. Saint Louis is the top seed for next week's Atlantic 10 tourney. Alex Kelly paces the team with a .343 batting average, eight home runs and 39 RBI, while Grant Nelson is hitting .337 with 32 RBI and a team-high 14 doubles. Redshirt junior right-hander Alex Alemann leads the pitching staff with a 7-0 record and a 2.36 ERA. Darin Hendrickson is in his fifth season as head coach.

Series History: Northwestern leads the all-time series with Saint Louis, 4-3. The teams split four games in St. Louis March 10-12 of last season. NU also took two of three games March 8 and 10, 2002 in St. Louis.
