EAST LANSING, Mich. -- For the sixth straight time the Northwestern Wildcats went into a hostile environment and emerged with an impressive victory Saturday. The 14th-ranked 'Cats rolled through the Michigan State Spartans at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing, Mich., 7-0 to extend their overall winning streak to four.

The Wildcats swept all three doubles matches against the Spartans, marking only the fourth time this season that NU has accomplished the feat. Northwestern also took all three tussles from Wisconsin and Iowa in conference play and Dartmouth in an ITA National Team Indoor Championship qualifying match in January.

Northwestern's Kate Turvy and Belinda Niu were united Saturday by head coach Claire Pollard for the first time since March 30 and the pair responded by posting a painless 8-0 shutout over Nicole Herzog and Michaela Silesova on the top line. It was the 10th win of the spring for the duo.

In the No. 2 match, NU's Nida Hamilton and Brittany Wowchuk played with one another for the first time this spring and they showed great chemistry early on with an 8-3 triumph over Marina Bohrer and Dana Guentert.

Linda Abu Mushrefova and Veronica Corning completed the sweep for the 'Cats Saturday with their 8-1 win against MSU's Katarina Lingl and Julianne Gruber at No. 3.

The Wildcats continued to have their way with the Spartans, as they did not drop a set in any of the six singles matches Saturday.

Kate Turvy, ranked No. 21 in the latest ITA singles poll, continued to deliver big wins for the Wildcats at the No. 1 singles position. The junior did not surrender a single game in her 6-0, 6-0 win versus Olga Chernova of Michigan State.

Belinda Niu occupied the second line, while No. 63 Brittany Wowchuk played in the third slot and both players won with ease. Niu bested Bohrer, 6-1, 6-1, and Wowchuk blew past Silesova, 6-3, 6-0.

Veronica Corning remained unbeaten in Big Ten play as she delivered her sixth straight league win with a 6-2, 6-1 success over Lingl. Abu Mushrefova won for the 11th time this spring when she downed the Spartans' Guentert, 6-1, 6-3.

Finally, Hamilton posted a straight-set victory against Gruber, 7-6, 6-3.

The Wildcats will conclude their five-match road trip on Easter Sunday with a showdown against the 15th-ranked Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor. The first serve for Sunday's match is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT. Northwestern will return home on Saturday, April 14 when it will host the Penn State Nittany Lions at 11 a.m.
