Northwestern Announces Summer Cross Country Camp

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern cross country this summer will host Camp Run Wild, a cross country camp for girls in grades 6-12 that seeks to provide a foundation for summer training programs and upcoming fall seasons. Hosted on the beautiful Northwestern University campus, the overnight camp is scheduled for Sunday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 18.
Along with receiving training from an experienced Big Ten coaching staff, campers will be provided insight into plyometrics, yoga, mental preparation, nutrition, physiology, injury prevention and goal-setting.
Serving as instructors and camp directors are Northwestern head coach April Likhite and assistant coach Patricia Loughlin Tormey, who last season led the Wildcats to a stellar fifth-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. Both were NCAA All-Americans during their collegiate running careers, with Likhite earning SEC Student-Athlete Of the Year honors while competing for Mississippi State while Loughlin Tormey reached All-American status at Duke. Current Northwestern cross country student-athletes also will be part of the camp staff.
