Turvy Falls in Opening Match at ITA All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Northwestern senior Kate Turvy dropped her opening-round match in the main draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Thursday afternoon.

Turvy squared off against eighth-seeded Danielle Lao of Southern California but fell 6-3, 6-3. Lao was No. 11 in the ITA Preseason Rankings, while Turvy was ranked 12th.

The loss drops Turvy into the consolation bracket where she is seeded fourth. She faces Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV on Friday.

The remainder of Northwestern's women's team participates in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
