HOUSTON, Texas -- Northwestern cross country alum Rachel Evjen Booth competed Saturday in the 2012 United States Olympic Marathon Team Trials in Houston, placing 31st at the event out of more than 150 entrants. Evjen Booth completed the 26.2-mile course in a time of 2:37:59, only 12 minutes off the winning time.
The top three finishers in the women's race earned bids to represent the U.S. in the marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Evjen Booth had qualified for the team trials back in October, 2010, by virtue of her stellar 1:14.46 in that year's San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon. She also had claimed first place in the women's division at the 2010 Disneyland Half-Marathon.
During her Northwestern career, Booth was an All-Big Ten performer in each season from 2000-2002, earning first-team honors in 2001. She led Northwestern to a berth in the 2002 NCAA Championships and was an individual NCAA Championship qualifier in 2000.
