EVANSTON, Ill. -- There's no rest for the Northwestern men's soccer team on Labor Day as the Wildcats play host to UMKC in an afternoon matinee at Lakeside Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

It'll be Evanston AYSO Day as NU is hosting a soccer skills clinic in the morning followed by a pregame tailgate.

Northwestern (0-1-1) bounced back from a disappointing season-opening loss to play seventh-ranked California to a scoreless draw at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., last Thursday. The Wildcats held commanding advantages of 15-7 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks in the contest but weren't able to put home a decisive goal to earn a victory. Lepe Seetane led NU wit three shots, including two on goal, while freshman Tyler Miller made two saves to earn a shutout in his first collegiate start.

Scouting UMKC
The Kangaroos (0-2-0) are coming off a 5-0 loss to sixth-ranked Creighton on Aug. 31. UMKC dropped its season-opener to Nebraska-Omaha by a 2-1 margin. The 'Roos went 10-5-3 overall and 4-1-1 in Summit League play a year ago and were tied with Oakland as the preseason pick to win the conference this season. Senior forward Jimmy Simon was a first-team All-Summit League selection in 2010. Rick Benben is in his 14th season as the head coach at UMKC.

Series History
The Wildcats won the only previous meeting with the Kangaroos, posting a 3-0 Sept. 16, 2007 in DeKalb, Ill. NU out-shot UMKC 22-10 in the contest, including 16-2 in the first half.

Up Next
The Wildcats make their annual trek to DeKalb, Ill., this weekend to participate in the NIU adidas Invitational. Northwestern faces Portland at 2:30 p.m. Friday and Valparaiso at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
