ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Northwestern wrapped up competition at the 32nd Annual Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational and placed fourth out of 18 teams. After leading the field upon the conclusion of the first two rounds, the Wildcats finished with a 16-over 892 to place fourth and were one stroke away from tying for second. TCU and Denver shared runner-up honors with a 15-over 891 while Baylor won the invitational, shooting an 11-over 887.
Three Wildcats placed in the top 20 with senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) placing the highest in a tie for fourth. Lederhausen was in 12th place after the first two rounds, but had four birdies, and four bogeys, to finish with a 1-under 72 in the third round. Overall, Lederhausen finished on par at 219.
Sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) finished day one in fourth place but struggled in her third round and shot a 4-over 77 to finish with a 2-over 221 to tie for ninth. Brown had two birdies in the final round, but bogeyed on six holes.
Junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) tied for 12th and was one stroke behind Brown with a 3-over 222. Weaver shot a 4-over 77 in the final round.
After scoring two 2-over 75s in the first day, freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) finished the third round with a 7-over 80. In total, she shot an 11-over 230 to tie for 48th.
Freshman Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) rounded out the Northwestern scorers as she tied for 75th with an 18-over 237. After four double-bogeys, three bogeys and one birdie, Lee finished with a 10-over 83 in the final round.
Northwestern returns to action Oct. 3-4 when the Wildcats host the 2011 Windy City Classic at the Glen View Club in Golf, Ill.
