OWASSO, Okla. -- Northwestern uncharacteristically fell behind the field on the first day of the Dale McNamara Invitational, but the Wildcats were able to bounce back in impressive fashion during Tuesday's second round. NU's 3-over 291 -- the best team round of the day -- propelled the 'Cats to third place heading into the final day.

Once again, sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) led the way for Northwestern, moving up 14 spots in the individual standings after a 2-under 70 performance. Brown (1-over 145) used three birdies in four holes on the back nine to remain ahead of the pack. Senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) had the best turnaround performance on the team, finishing at an even par-72 after shooting a 7-over 79 on Monday. Before finishing even, Lederhausen (7-over 151) spent much of the day below par after firing off an extraordinary eagle on the par 5 first hole -- Northwestern's second eagle of the tournament.

Following close behind on the Wildcat scorecard was Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson). Lee, who finished with a solid 1-over 73, had a rough start to the day on the back nine, but reeled off three birdies on the front nine to move her to seventh place. Fellow freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) finished one stroke better on Tuesday, firing a 4-over 76 to move her to a tie for 36th place.

Junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) rounded out the 'Cats lineup with a 6-over 78. Weaver enjoyed three birdies on the day, but two double bogeys prevented her from moving up the ladder.

Arizona State remains ahead of the field with four golfers in the top 10 and a team score of 4-under 572. Oklahoma State (13-over 593) sits in second, one stroke ahead of Northwestern in third. Iowa State (22-over 598) and Oral Roberts (24-over 600) round out the top five.

The host club, Tulsa, and Longwood remained tied in sixth with a 26-over 602. Central Florida (27-over 603), Middle Tennessee State (28-over 604) and Kansas State (33-over 609) bring around the top 10 squads. Following behind are Arkansas State (39-over 615), Arkansas-Little Rock (40-over 616), Kansas (41-over 617), Missouri (50-over 626) and Southern Mississippi (54-over 630).

The final round of the 2011 Dale McNamara Invitational will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Live scoring can be found at Golfstat.com.
