STANFORD, Calif. -- Just five days after concluding the 2011 team dual season, a trio of Wildcats will shift gears to compete in the NCAA Individual Championships, hosted by Stanford at the Taube Tennis Center. First round singles play will begin Wednesday with doubles following on Thursday.

Senior Maria Mosolova, ranked No. 10 in the country, will be among the 64 individuals to begin play on Wednesday as she enters the singles draw in the 9-16 seed grouping. Mosolova (22-3), because of her national ranking, has now become a four-time All-American, only the second Wildcat to do so -- Cristelle Grier being the only other from Northwestern from 2003-06. She opens her tournament against 36th-ranked Anna Bartenstein (24-6) of Miami (Fla.) at 1:30 p.m. CT. Mosolova reached the round of 16 last year and advanced to the quarterfinals of the championships the two previous years.

Northwestern's doubles duo of sophomore Linda Abu Mushrefova and freshman Nida Hamilton, who are the 12th-ranked team in the nation after spending much of the season on the No. 1 line for NU, will begin pursuit of a NCAA Doubles National Championship on Thursday. The Wildcat duo are set for a first-round matchup with Maryland's 26th-ranked Jordaan Sanford Cristina and Sanchez-Quintanar, with the times to be released shortly.

Abu Mushrefova and Hamilton, who are both making their debut in the NCAA Individual Championships, are used to success as the pair has gone 17-8 this season at the No. 1 spot and captured the ITA Midwest Regional Doubles Championship in the fall, the first regional title for Northwestern since 2005.
