NU Announces Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat seniors David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) of the men's golf team and Maria Mosolova (Moscow, Russia/No. 204) of the women's tennis team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances.
Competing in his final Big Ten Men's Golf Championships, Lipsky made a blistering run at his second individual conference title with a final-round 67 and ultimately finished third, just two strokes off the leader, with a 1-over 289 for the tournament. His effort was part of a 7-under team performance by the Wildcats that allowed NU to move from a tie for third into sole possession of second place for the weekend.
Mosolova also the made the most in her final trip to the Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament, leading a superb team effort as the Wildcats stunned top-seeded Michigan, 4-3, to capture their 13th-straight tournament championship. Mosolova was one of two NU players to finish and win all three of her singles matches in the tournament, culminating in her come-from-behind three-set victory over seventh-ranked Denise Muresan in the title match. Mosolova, improved to 21-2 in dual singles play entering next week's NCAA Tournament.
This week's Community Outreach Athlete of the Week is sophomore Jeff Budzien (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) of the football team. Jeff is a committee chair member for the NU Special Olympics and a coach at the weekly organization's Classic Bowl events. Jeff provides encouragement to the athletes and small pointers to improve their bowling games.
