COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In blustery conditions in Columbus, Northwestern held steady on the final day of the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational. NU concluded the first and second rounds in fifth place, and that is where they remained after the third round.

NU sophomore Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows), who shot a 3-over 75 in the first round and 7-over 79 in the second, finished in sole possession of seventh-place 16-over 232 (75-79-78). Weaver finished with six birdies for the tournament, tops among the 'Cats. Her sixth top-10 showing this season led the way for Northwestern's 82-over 946, fifth-place finish.

As a team, NU had the fourth-best round on Sunday, allowing them to hold their position. On an individual level, four Wildcats shot better than they did in the second round. The 'Cats finished only five strokes behind Ohio State (310-313-318=941) in fourth, but 28 strokes behind tournament winner, Michigan State (303-300-315=918). Caroline Powers of Michigan State led the 75-player field, finishing at 10-over (75-72-79=226).

Finishing right behind Weaver for the Wildcats was junior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) as her third round, 6-over 78 was good enough to bump her up to a three-way tie for eighth place at 17-over (75-80-78=233). In a tie for 32nd-place, Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) was the next highest finisher for Northwestern at 26-over (81-81-80=242). Senior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) was off in the third round, shooting a 15-over 87 on the day. She finished at 29-over (78-80-87=245). Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) also finished at 29-over after shooting an 11-over 83 in the third round. Lindenschmidt (80-82-83=245) and Lederhausen both finished in a tie for 37th place. Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral) shot her best round of golf on Sunday with a 10-over 82. The junior finished at 35-over (86-83-82=251).

Next up, the Wildcats return home to host the Big Ten Championships on April 22-24 at Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe, Ill.
