EVANSTON, Ill. -- Amy Jaeschke was tabbed Big Ten Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after averaging 25.5 points per game in a pair of Northwestern victories last week, the Conference office announced today.
Finishing with two 20-point outings, the senior also averaged 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in wins over Illinois and Ohio State. Against the Illini, she scored 22 points and hit the game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining in an 80-79 win. Versus the Buckeyes, Jaeschke poured in 29 points, along with seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in a 74-68 triumph in Columbus.
Both victories secured regular-season sweeps of Illinois and Ohio State, feats which had not been accomplished since the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons, respectively.
Additionally, Jaeschke's 29 points against the Bucks pushed her into second place on Northwestern's all-time scoring list, currently holding 1,815 career points. Jaeschke's 340 career blocks sets her well atop NU's blocks category and she is just 11 rebounds away from moving into second place on the Wildcats' all-time rebounding slate.
The Wildcats (16-8, 5-6) travel to Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday evening at the Kohl Center. For more on Jaeschke, visit her All-America page.
