Wildcats Announce Plans for Spring Track Competition

Northwestern Spring Track Schedule
EVANSTON, Ill. -- With the 2011 cross country season in the books, Northwestern head coach April Likhite and her team are already looking ahead to a competitive series of spring track meets. Likhite today released the 'Cats' 2012 track schedule, which will see NU compete against top runners from the Midwest and the nation between February and May.
Northwestern will send individuals to both the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame and the USA Cross Country Championships to be held in St. Louis in early February to open the season. After that, the track season begins in earnest with scheduled meets at Purdue, Notre Dame, North Central, the University of Chicago, Northern Illinois and DePaul, among others.
For the third straight year, the Wildcats will be represented at the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, where last year Audrey Huth ran to a fifth-place finish in the 5K. The Drake Relays are once again scheduled for the final weekend in April.
Northwestern is coming off a successful 2011 fall season in which it posted its highest finishes in nearly 10 years at both the Big Ten and NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
