EVANSTON, ILL. --Northwestern begins its "Challenge" week Wednesday, when it hosts NC State as part of the fifth-annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Tip is set for 7 p.m. from Welsh-Ryan Arena and will be streamed live on the Big Ten Digital Network. Following Wednesday's contest, the Wildcats travel to Colombia, Mo. for a 4 p.m. Saturday showdown with Missouri; part of the Big XII/Big Ten Challenge.

Last Time Out...
Northwestern took on a pair of top-25 teams last week, defeating No. 23 LSU on its home floor, 44-43, Tuesday. The Maravich Center has been a safe haven for the Lady Tigers, where they were 155-11 over the last 14 years against unranked teams. On Sunday, the Wildcats battled Chicagoland rival No. 20 DePaul, and, while ultimately succumbing to its ridiculous three-point marksmanship, matched the Blue Demons until the four-minute mark.

Jones Picks Up Freshman of the Week Accolades
Guard Morgan Jones earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week accolades for her outstanding efforts last week, the Conference office announced. It is the second time in the past two weeks a Wildcat has earned the award, as Karly Roser garnered it seven days ago.
Jones had an outstanding week, punctuated by a pair of free throws with 11 seconds remaining against LSU to give Northwestern a 45-44 victory at Baton Rouge. The freshman nearly recorded a double-double against the Lady Tigers, turning in an 11-point, nine rebound effort. She was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line with four assists and four steals in 36 minutes of action.
Jones once again turned in a spectacular scoring performance Sunday, notching 17 points and seven rebounds against No. 20 DePaul. She also added four assists and a pair of steals in the 88-72 loss.

High Five
The first round of NCAA statistics came out this week, and freshman Karly Roser ranks fifth in the nation in assists per game (7.0). Roser is tied for the Big Ten lead in that category, sharing it with Nebraska junior Lindsey Moore.

Wildcats Pick Up Votes In AP Poll
After defeating No. 23 LSU Tuesday and giving No. 20 DePaul a run for its money Sunday afternoon, Northwestern garnered national attention, earning votes in this week's Associated Press poll. It is the first time this season NU has appeared in either poll.

'Tis The Season For Charitable Acts
Northwestern turned in a season-best 22-of-24 (91.7 percent) effort from the charity stripe against DePaul Sunday. For their effort, the 'Cats moved into 8th in the Big Ten (up from 11th). Ironically, the 29 attempts were spread between only four players. Both Dannielle Diamant and Morgan Jones were perfect from the line, combining to go 11-of-11, while Brittany Orban and Karly Roser went 11-of-13.
