Claire Pollard Inks Future 'Cat Alicia Barnett to NLI

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Claire Pollard has announced that Alicia Barnett (Painswick, England/Stroud) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats in time for the 2012-13 campaign.
"We are delighted to have Alicia join our program," said Pollard. "She is going to be an impact player and will continue the tradition of raising the bar to new heights."
Barnett is a highly decorated multi-sport standout. On the tennis court, she earned the No. 2 under-18 National ranking and No. 390 in the under-18 International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings. Her teams reached the National Schools under-19 Championship Finals, the prestigious Aberdare Cup, five straight years from 2007-2011. Earlier in her career, Barnett was the top-ranked player in under-14 Open County.
Barnett's other athletic pursuits include soccer, field hockey and the discus. On the pitch, she was a member of the three-time Gloucester City Ladies League Champions in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Barnett was also a county and regional champion in the discus in 2009.
