'Cats Add Cole to Roster

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head women's basketball coach Joe McKeown announced today that center Anna Cole will be joining the Wildcat family. The 6-7 transfer from Kentucky will sit out the 2010-11 campaign but will be active for NU in 2011-12.
"Anna is an extremely well-rounded and focused young woman," McKeown said. "Her presence on the court will enable us to continue a strong post game. We are delighted she has decided to bring her talent and enthusiasm to Northwestern and our Wildcat family."

2009-10: (at Kentucky):Missed final 18 games with two stress fractures in her right foot ... Saw action in nine games prior to her injury ... Recorded her first collegiate basket against Mississippi Valley State (1/1/10) and finished with three points ... Made a pair of free throws and grabbed three rebounds against Miami (Ohio) (12/1/09) ... Grabbed three rebounds against Florida A&M (12/13/09) ... Hit a free throw with two rebounds and two blocked shots in a season-high five minutes against McNeese State (11/28/09).
High School: Averaged 15.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game as a senior ... Named to the Division 3 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State Team as a junior and senior ... Elected team captain by her peers during her senior season ... Team's leading scorer and rebounder as a sophomore, junior and senior ... Three-time All-Conference selection ... Three-time All-Northwestern choice ... Averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks as a junior ... Four-year starter for Coach Shauna Brian ... Helped lead the Buffalos to the regional finals as a junior after finishing with a remarkable 21-2 overall record and an undefeated 18-0 mark in the Dunn St. Croix conference ... Played AAU basketball for Team Wisconsin, one of the best in the country ... Her AAU team, Team Wisconsin, won the 2005 Junior Olympics and the 2004 National Championship title ... Also excelled as a middle blocker on her high school's volleyball team ... Led the team in blocks and kills as a senior ... Was named second-team All-Conference as a junior and honorable-mention All-Conference during her sophomore season ... Excellent student who consistently garnered high academic marks ... Member of the National Honor Society ... Active in several clubs, including Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America and the History Club.
