NU Announces Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat junior Dan Persa (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) of the football team and sophomore Chelsea Armstrong (Perth, Australia/Penrhos) of the field hockey team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.
In his first career start for the Wildcats, Persa led Northwestern to a 23-21 victory at Vanderbilt Saturday by completing 19-of-21 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Persa also led all runners in the game with 82 yards on the groun. With NU leading by two points late in the game, Persa drove Northwestern down the field and tossed what proved to be the game-winning score, a two-yard pass to Josh Rooks, en route to being named the team's Offensive Player of the Game.
Armstrong earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors following a week in which she scored four goals and added two assists for the Wildcats. Armstrong, the Big Ten leader in goals scored, took 15 shots and notched two goals in a 4-1 win at Colgate before duplicating her two-goal performance in another victory over William & Mary. In 26 career games at Northwestern, Armstrong has scored 28 goals, leaving her four shy of cracking the top 10 on NU's all-time list.
This week's Community Outreach Athlete of the Week is senior Amy Jaeschke (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) of the women's basketball team. Jaeschke and other members of the women's basketball team ran a clinic for the St. Viator girls' basketball program. Amy and the team put the children through a series of drills and then talked to them about the importance of playing hard and performing well in school.
