Loyola Lakefront Invite Meet Information

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will participate in one of the largest and longest-running collegiate cross country meets in the nation Saturday, the 38th annual Loyola Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. The Wildcats finished fifth at the meet in 2009 after placing first overall in 2008.

Start time for Saturday's women's collegiate race is scheduled for noon. With more than 4,000 college, high school and junior high participants due to compete and ongoing construction in the Montrose Harbor area, meet organizers have stressed that parking on site will be limited and the use of public transportation is encouraged. This is Northwestern's only meet this season in the greater Chicagoland area.

A Fast Start
Northwestern has come away with first-place team finishes in each of its first two meets, the Badger Cross Country Classic and the Illinois Intercollegiates, en route to a No. 11 Midwest ranking in the USTFCCA regional polls. NU's Sophie Ewald and Audrey Huth flip-flopped the Nos. 1 and 2 spots for the Wildcats in those meets and were Northwestern's top finishers at the Loyola Lakefront Invite in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Ewald took eighth in 2008 while Huth was 13th overall in last year's event.

Up Next
Following the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, Northwestern has nearly two full weeks before returning to competition at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill. The meet will give the Wildcats a chance to try their hand on the course that will serve as the host for the NCAA Regional Championships on Nov. 13.
