Northwestern to Hold Coaches Clinic in Evanston Oct. 31

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Drew Pariano and his staff have announced plans for the 2010 Northwestern Coaches Clinic, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 31, on NU's Evanston campus. World silver medalist, Hodge Trophy winner and NU staff member Jake Herbert will serve as the featured clinician at the event, which is open to coaches and parents of all junior high and grade school athletes.
Pariano, a 2000 NU grad who is in his first season as Wildcat head coach, was the 2007 NWCA National Assistant Coach of the Year and formerly was the head coach at Cornell College in Iowa. He has spent the last five seasons as an assistant at Northwestern, helping the Wildcats to five consecutive top-15 national finishes, including a No. 4 placing at the 2007 NCAA Championships.
Other featured clinicians include Northwestern associate head coach and 2008 USA Wrestling Junior and University FILA Person of the Year Tim Cysewski as well as NU assistant coach Matt Storniolo, a Big 12 Conference champion and two-time NCAA All-American at Oklahoma.

Held in Northwestern's Ken Kraft Wrestling Complex located in Anderson Hall, the coaches clinic will last from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with two sessions of instruction. Topics to be covered include a range of techniques for takedown drills, hand-fighting fundamentals, hand control, pinning combinations and drill matches. There will also be a 30-minute question-and-answer period and a post-clinic social with the Northwestern coaching staff at a location to be determined.
