Northwestern Announces 2010-11 Slate

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern announced its 2010-11 women's basketball schedule today (Aug. 27), featuring an Evanston-friendly nonconference slate to launch the campaign. The Wildcats will face some familiar foes from last season's schedule, such as Chicago State, DePaul and Toledo, while welcoming the likes of new rivals LSU, Missouri and BYU. NU also will participate in the Saint Mary's Tournament, the inaugural Big Ten/Big XII Challenge and the fourth-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The 'Cats officially usher in the new season as hosts to Dartmouth on Nov. 12, followed by a showdown with SEC foe LSU on Nov. 14. Northwestern hits the road for the first time to battle Western Kentucky on Nov.18 before returning to Welsh-Ryan Arena to challenge Chicago State on the 21st.
The Wildcats will spend Thanksgiving on the West Coast, duking it out in the Saint Mary's Tournament Nov. 26-27. After returning from California, NU takes off once again, traveling to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech on Dec. 1 in the fourth-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
In the spirit of building conference rivalries, the Wildcats host Big XII member Missouri in the inaugural Big Ten/Big XII Challenge on Dec. 5. The contest is slated for 1 p.m. and will be carried live on the Big Ten Network.
The remaining nonconference lineup takes place close to home, as Northwestern hosts Central Michigan (Dec. 11), Northern Illinois (Dec. 15), Northern Arizona (Dec. 19) and Toledo (Dec. 22) before league play commences. A showdown with intra-city rival DePaul is the lone "away" game during that stretch, as the 'Cats travel south to Chicago on Monday, Dec. 13.

The 2010 Big Ten Tournament will be held March 3-6 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
