MADISON, Wis. - Northwestern traveled to the 2010 Wisconsin Twilight Invitational hosted by Wisconsin last weekend where freshman Audrey Huth led the Wildcats with a win in the 3,000-meter run (9:39.85) and sophomore teammate Sophie Ewald placed second in the same race (9:47.12). The pair dominated the field by finishing nearly a minute ahead of their closest competitors.
Joining the Wildcats in the Wisconsin Twilight were runners from schools including Wisconsin, Marquette, and Northern Illinois.
A trio of freshmen competed in the 5,000-meter event with Lauren Neuschel (18:11.65) placing second in the field to conclude a strong spring season in both the 5K and 10K. Also performing well in the 5K were first-years Ashley Greenwell (18:27.31) and Kaley Stroup (19:08.31).
Sophomore Hallie Busta posted top-10 finishes in a pair of mid-distance events finishing third in the 1,500-meter race (4:48.18) and eighth in the 800-meter run (2:27.17).
The Wisconsin Twilight Invite was the last of the Wildcats' spring track competitions during which NU repeatedly set personal bests and saw its runners perform very well against representatives from top track teams in the Midwest region. Head coach April Likhite's young team gained invaluable experience that will translate into the 2010 fall cross country campaign.
