Kate Drohan Named USA Softball Futures National Team Head Coach

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Northwestern head coach Kate Drohan has been named the head coach for the USA Futures National Team in 2010, marking her debut as a coach for USA Softball after joining the program for the 2009-12 quadrennium.
Drohan will lead the Futures National Team at the World Cup of Softball July 23-26 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City and in exhibition games against the Women's National Team June 16-17 in Canton, Ohio, and Ashland, Ohio. Former Wildcats Eileen Canney and Tammy Williams along with current NU volunteer assistant coach Lauren Lappin are members of the 2010 Women's National Team.
Drohan is one of 14 coaches chosen by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) and USA Softball for the coaching pool in 2009-12. Drohan's assistant coaches with the 2010 Futures National Team are Mike Larabee, head coach at Arkansas, and Jamie Pinkerton, assistant coach at Iowa State.
Prior to earning this assignment, Drohan worked at USA Softball selection camps to help select the roster for the Women's National Team. The roster for the 2010 Futures National Team will be announced at a later date.
