EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomore right-hander Francis Brooke (Washington D.C./St. Albans School) was recognized Monday as the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' 3-0 win Saturday over Loyola Marymount at the Dairy Queen Classic in Minneapolis.

Brooke got the start against the Lions and hurled eight shutout innings. He was dominant in the effort, facing just one batter over the minimum through the first seven frames. Brooke set a career high with six strikeouts in earning his second victory of the season. He didn't walk a batter and surrendered only three hits.

His performance helped him earn all-tournament team honors at the Dairy Queen Classic which was held at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

Over four appearances and 20.2 innings pitched so far this season, Brooke has allowed only 11 hits while limiting opposing batters to a .153 average. He has struck out 13 while walking only two.
