Northwestern Receives Academic Laurels from NFHCA

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) recently announced its recipients of the Collegiate National Academic Team awards as well as the members of the 2009 Collegiate National Academic Squads. Northwestern once again was recognized for its collective team GPA while a program-best 11 Wildcats were named to the National Academic Squad, including four-time honoree Courtney Coburn.
The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year; the National Academic Squad, meanwhile, honors those student-athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through that same semester.
Northwestern's 11 individual honorees tops the previous program-best single-season total of eight set in 2006 and 2007. The complete list of Wildcats on the NFHCA Academic Squad is as follows:
