EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat sophomore Zach Morton (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) of the baseball team and senior Katrina Dowd (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) of the women's lacrosse team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

Morton was named to the 2010 Big Ten/Big East Challege All-Tournament First Team for his efforts last weekend. In Friday's opener against Connecticut, Morton singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Northwestern a 6-5 victory. Morton then got the start in Sunday's Challenge finale against Seton Hall and worked six solid innings without allowing an earned run while striking out three.

Dowd scored a total of 10 goals in a pair of Northwestern wins over No. 15 Stanford and California this weekend. Dowd put away five goals and added an assist and four caused turnovers against the Cardinal before scoring five more times on just six shots in a 17-3 rout of the Golden Bears Sunday.

This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is sophomore Chuck Porcelli (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) of the football team. Porcelli and other members of the football team recently volunteered with the Campus Kitchens organization, preparing meals for the less fortunate and teaching people to use crock pot cookers for nutritious and economical meals.
