Last Time Against The Hawkeyes
Jan. 24, 2010--If you have ever had the feeling someone was following you, ready to imitate your every move, you know how Northwestern felt Sunday afternoon at Iowa. The Wildcats fought hard, and Amy Jaeschke's season-best 30-point performance single-handedly kept NU within striking distance but Iowa proved to make the final move, prevailing 78-69, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Jaeschke added a team-high eight rebounds, three assists and three rejections. She is now NU's all-time leading blocker.

Noting Iowa
• Three Hawkeyes are averaging in double figures, led by junior Kachine Alexander with 15.8 points per game. Freshman Jaime Printy and sophomore Kamille Wahlin are also contributing double digits with 15.5 and 14.2 ppg, respectively. Alexander dominates on the boards for Iowa, recording 11.0 rpg to accompany her team-best 15.8 ppg.
• Iowa is second in the conference in scoring, recording 69.5 ppg, and receiving a good chunk of its points from long range. The Hawkeyes are second in the Big Ten in 3-point field goals made, averaging 7.73 triples per outing. Iowa is hitting 75.5 percent from the free-throw line (3rd in the league) and connecting on 41 percent of its looks from the field (that's good for fourth).
• After posting a 7-4 nonconference record, the Hawks dropped six of their first seven league games before hitting their stride. Iowa is arguably the hottest team in the conference, having won seven of its last eight outings, and is currently sitting in third place in the standings. The Hawks' only loss during that span was a four-point failure at league-champion Ohio State.

Marshall Comes Up Big Against Indiana
Junior Beth Marshall knew the importance of Thursday's game against the Hoosiers, and acted accordingly. The Indiana native shot 85 percent (6-of-7) from deep, draining six three-pointers while converting on a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in overtime, to lead Northwestern to its first victory over IU since 2004. Marshall, a team captain, recorded a career-high 26 points while pulling down four rebounds and dishing out four assists in 42 minutes of action. She needs just one more trey to crack NU's all-time single-season three-pointers made list (48).

'Cats Achieve Winning Season For the First Time Since 1996-97 Campaign
Northwestern's 78-73 overtime triumph against Indiana Thursday evening guaranteed the Wildcats a winning regular season for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign. It also made NU postseason eligible for the first time since that same season.
