KENOSHA, Wis. -- Northwestern sent a strong contingent of unattached competitors to the Wisconsin Open hosted by UW-Parkside this weekend, nearly all of whom finished near the top of the medal stand. The Wildcats won four weight class championships and took third in two others.

"This group of guys continues to work hard to improve and to raise the level of competition in our practice room," said Northwestern head coach Drew Pariano. "They represented themselves well at the Open this weekend as they have at a number of tournaments this fall. It bodes well for the future of our program."

At 141, Pat Greco coasted to a 15-4 major decision over Parkside's Zach Noel in his opening match before posting consecutive decisions, defeating Lindenwood's Jacob James, 9-7, in the 141-pound final.

Colin Shober wrestled for the first time in his collegiate career and went right to work, winning four straight matches to win the tournament's 149-pound championship. Shober won back-to-back majors in the early rounds and came out on top of a 5-3 decision over Lindenwood's Derrick Weller in the championship match.

Two Wildcats made their way to the late stages of the backdraw at 157 pounds, as Dylan Marriott bounced back from an opening-round loss to win five matches in the wrestlebacks. Pierce Harger, meanwhile, lost in the championship round semifinals but went on to take third.

The road to the 184-pound championship was an easy one for Lee Munster, who won two straight 15-0 tech fall victories before finishing off the afternoon with a 13-5 major decision against Parkside's Ryan Woods in the final.

NU's final championship of the day came at 197 where Alex Polizzi advanced to the finals with two first-period falls and shut out Harper College's Mike Kelly, 16-0, in the title match.

Rounding out Northwestern's stellar day was heavyweight Mike McMullan, who was 4-1 on the afternoon to claim third place. McMullan picked up three pins along the way.
