EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern looks to rebound from a tough 71-69 loss in its conference debut at Indiana, now turning its attention to fellow Hoosier State squad Purdue. The Wildcats take to the hardwood in a 2 p.m. tilt with the Boilermakers on Sunday, Jan. 2 at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The game will be streamed live on NUsports.com and can be heard over the airwaves at WNUR 89.3 FM. The Wildcats' misstep at Bloomington was just their third of the season.
Don't Take Offense
Junior Brittany Orban has never been shy about going after a rebound or hustling for a lose ball. The Canton, Ohio, native hauled down 17 rebounds against LSU, which is tied for the second-best performance in the Big Ten this season. Orban pulled down a season-high seven offensive boards in the Conference opener at Indiana (12.30.10) which gave her a League-leading 3.4 per game. Additionally, the forward is second in the Conference in three-point shooting percentage, converting 58.1 percent of the time.
'Cats Crank It Up
As of Saturday, Northwestern is one of just four Big Ten schools to have double-digit wins on the season. The Wildcats have 11, while Penn State, Iowa and Michigan State each have 12.
Putting the Time In
Three Wildcats appear in the top 10 in minutes played this year--the most of any League squad. Senior Beth Marshall is second in the Big Ten with 36.5 mpg, while fellow classmate Amy Jaeschke and junior Brittany Orban are averaging 35.4 and 33.9 mpg, respectively.
