EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Emily Fletcher announced today the signing of two future Wildcats to National Letters of Intent. Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) and Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) will begin competing for the Wildcats in the 2011-12 season.

"I am incredibly excited to have Hana and Brittany joining the Wildcat golf family," said Fletcher. "They are both outstanding young women and have a strong belief in Northwestern University and the Wildcat golf program. I anticipate both of these players making an immediate impact on our program."

"I couldn't be more excited about the signing of Hana and Brittany," added Pat Goss, Northwestern's director of golf. "Coach Fletcher and coach (Beth) Miller continue to do a great job with the recruiting and elevation of our program. Adding Hana and Brittany is another big step forward for the women's golf program and I am looking forward to having these two great players on campus the next four years."

Lee is the nation's 16th ranked player from the 2011 class according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. She has led a decorated junior golf career, playing on the prestigious Canon Cup team and being selected as a Rolex Junior All-American. Hana has notched an impressive eleven top-10 finishes over her AJGA career as well.

"Hana's accomplishments and experience thus far are impressive, yet I am confident that her best golf is still ahead of her," Fletcher said. "Her game is solid and she has an outstanding work ethic."

Mai, currently ranked 33rd in the 2011 Class by Golfweek, has been a solid mainstay of junior golf in Southern California. Brittany competed for San Diego in the Junior America's Cup earlier this summer and grabbed the individual title, posting impressive rounds of 74-71-69. She has also been selected to play for Team USA at the Aaron Baddeley World Junior Championship in Guangzhou, China, November 25-28. Mai is one of only two girls selected to represent the USA.

"Brittany's passion and enthusiasm for Northwestern has been evident throughout this entire recruiting process," said Fletcher. "I am thrilled to have a player of Brittany's caliber joining our team and can't wait for her to arrive next fall."

Northwestern wrapped up the fall portion of its 2010-11 schedule ranked 43rd in the Golfweek, Sagarin ranking, highlighted by a runner-up showing at the Lady Northern Invitational in October. Individually, the Wildcats had four players post top-10 finishes, led by Lauren Weaver's Lady Northern Individual title, and four others finish among the top-20. Northwestern returns to the links in February, competing in the Lady Puerto Rico Feb. 13-15, 2011, at Rio Mar, P.R.
