Northwestern Heads to Regional Championships Hosted by Bradley

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern has spent the last two weeks preparing for its second championship meet of the season, the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Bradley on Saturday. The meet kicks off with the women's 6K race at 11 a.m. CT on Bradley's Newman Golf Course.
A year ago, Northwestern recorded the only top-15 finish at an NCAA Regional meet by a cross country-only program when it took 14th at Missouri State. Current sophomore Audrey Huth led the Wildcats that day, taking 54th overall, while Hallie Busta was NU's second finisher in 86th position.
Huth also paced Northwestern at this season's Big Ten Championships on Oct. 31, clocking in at a career-best time of 20:52.7 to place 20th. Freshman Michelle Moriset also turned in a strong effort at Big Tens with her time of 21:21.8.
The Wildcats, who currently stand No. 11 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional rankings, are joined in Peoria by fellow Big Ten member schools Minnesota (ranked No. 2 in the region), Iowa (No. 5) and Illinois (No. 10). The top-ranked squad at the event will be Iowa State (No. 1 region, No. 13 national).
This is the third time in the last seven years that Bradley has hosted the NCAA Regional Championships.
The top two teams in each race along with the top four individual finishers not on the top two teams will receive automatic berths into the NCAA Championship, which will be held on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
