EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat junior Bryce McNaul (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) of the football team and sophomore Audrey Huth (Shelby, Mich./Utica) of the cross country team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.
McNaul set a career high and led the Northwestern defense with 13 tackles in a 20-17 win at Indiana on Saturday. He also made his presence known in the Hoosier backfield with a career-best 2.0 tackles for loss. McNaul, who was named the team's Defensive Player of the Game for his efforts, is third on the team in total tackles this season with 42 despite having played in only six of NU's eight games.
Huth placed 20th overall at the 2010 Big Ten Cross Country Championships hosted by Wisconsin, the highest individual finish by a Wildcat since 2003. The sophomore ran a personal-best 6K time of 20:52.7 to lead NU at the event for the second straight year.
This week's Community Service Athlete of the Week is senior Kelly Quinn (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) of the softball team. Kelly assisted with Fairy Tale Trail on Friday at the Women's Club of Evanston. Fairy Tale Trail was developed to provide a safe alternative Halloween experience for schoolchildren with disabilities who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy the holiday. Volunteers were provided costumes and interacted with children participating in different games and activities.
