EVANSTON, Ill. -- As part of its new major marketing campaign promoting Northwestern as "Chicago's Big Ten Team," the Wildcats recently created their first outbound ticket sales department to promote the success of Northwestern Athletics.
The ticket sales representatives main responsibility will be to sell and maintain season and group ticket accounts to Northwestern football and men's basketball programs through outbound calls and meetings with existing and potential customers. They will also be present during all home games to provide a point of contact for season ticket holders and group leaders as well as casual fans.
"We have assembled a qualified crew of sales representatives and I am excited to get them actively involved in the Chicagoland marketplace," said Kurt Hasenbalg, Northwestern's assistant athletic director for ticket sales and service. "Our goal is for each representative to reach out and establish a direct point of contact with season ticket holders and group leaders, in addition to spreading the buzz and excitement of the 2010-11 seasons. I look forward to guiding and supporting each of them in building long-term relationships with our Northwestern fans."
The six new sales representatives hail from various parts of the country and bring with them diverse professional backgrounds. Kaitlyn Brady is a 2007 graduate of Michigan and is currently pursuing her master's degree in communications from DePaul University. A former swimmer for the Wolverines, Brady spent a year as a marketing and promotions intern at Eastern Michigan University.
Joel Childs graduated with a degree in marketing from Northeastern Illinois. Childs is familiar with the Northwestern athletic department, serving as a sales and marketing and promotions intern last season while also gaining experience as a marketing intern for the Chicago Machine of Major League Lacrosse.
Jonathan Joseph is a 2007 graduate of Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., where he was four-year letterwinner with the Falcon football team. Joseph spent a year and a half with Putnam Investments where he worked as a dealer marketing representative and a regional marketing associate.
Amy Loch comes to Northwestern after working as a ticket sales representative for the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago White Sox and the Carolina Panthers. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Loch previously spent time as the assistant director of alumni relations at the Kellogg School of Management.
Courtney Magnuson earned her master's in sports management from Purdue University after attaining her bachelor's degree in management with a minor in marketing. Magnuson previously worked as the program manager of retail sales for the PGA Championships in 2006 and 2007.
Stephen Polo attained his master's degree in sports management from Northwestern after graduating with a bachelor's degree in sports management from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Polo spent four seasons as a senior account executive with the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer after spending one season with the Windy City Thunderbolts baseball team.
Northwestern fans can still purchase tickets for the Wildcats' three remaining home Big Ten football games, with season ticket deposits for 2010-11 men's basketball now being accepted. Contact the Northwestern ticket office at (847) 491-CATS (2287).
