EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's fall tournament schedule rolls on this weekend when NU hosts 10 other programs in the annual Wildcat Invitational, beginning tomorrow (Friday) and running through Sunday at the Vandy Christie Outdoor Tennis Center in Evanston. Head coach Claire Pollard announced the singles and doubles draws on Thursday.
Joining Northwestern at the event are the following schools: DePaul, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Western Michigan and Wisconsin.
Weather permitting, all matches will be played outdoors at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center (2310 Sheridan Road). Fans will be able to make use of street parking on the roads surrounding the tennis courts all three days of the event. (In the event of rain, action will shift indoors to the Combe Tennis Center at 2311 Campus Drive). The schedule for the weekend will follow the format listed below:
Friday
9:30 a.m.: First round of doubles
To follow: Second round of doubles
Noon (approximate): Lunch break
1 p.m. (approximate): 32 continues singles matches
Saturday
9 a.m.: All remaining doubles matches
To follow: Second and third rounds of singles (through approximately 4 p.m.)
Sunday
9 a.m.: 32 singles matches
Northwestern will be represented in the tournament by junior Elena Chernyakova and a trio of freshmen: Belinda Niu, Elizabeth Kobak and Natalie Edell. Edell and Kobak will team up for doubles play in flight A while Chernyakova and Hamilton are paired to compete in flight D.
