EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will begin its championship season this Sunday at Wisconsin, joining the rest of the conference at the 2010 Big Ten Championships. The 6K race is set to get underway at 10:45 a.m. on Wisconsin's Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, where NU won the team title at the Badger XC Classic on Sept. 3.

The Big Ten Network will be on hand to cover Sunday's race and will air the meet on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.

Sophomore Audrey Huth led Northwestern runners last season at the Big Ten Championships, finishing 50th overall with a time of 22:11. Having recently recorded a 6K personal-best of 21:10 at the Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Ind., she will aim to pace the NU contingent along with Sophie Ewald, who was the Wildcats top finisher at Big Tens in 2008.

Also competing for the Wildcats on Halloween will be freshmen Michelle Moriset, Molly Waterhouse, Ann Powers, Julia Buford and Libby Kocha.

There are five Big Ten teams currently ranked in the top 30 of the women's USTFCCCA polls, led by Michigan State (No. 16) and Minnesota (No. 19). Checking in behind them are Michigan (No. 21), Indiana (No. 29) and Iowa (No. 30). Northwestern begins the weekend ranked No. 11 in the Midwest Region.

The Wildcats are coming off strong performances at both the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by Indiana State and the Illini Open, where they tied for first out of eight teams. Freshman Nicole Oliver took fourth place overall in the 5K course with a time of 18:15 and junior Abby Tracy and sophomore Lauren Neuschel followed closely with times of 18:22 and 18:27, respectively.

Complete team and individual results from Madison, Wis., will be available on NUSports.com and the official meet website (linked above) following the completion of the race on Sunday.
