Jaeschke Named To Preseason All-Big Ten Squad

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Amy Jaeschke was tabbed a member of the Preseason All-Big Ten team by both the coaches and the media, the Big Ten Conference announced today at the League's Media Day. To view the complete release, please click here.
No stranger to conference accolades, Jaeschke has been an All-Big Ten selection the last three years and earned a first-team nod last season, becoming NU's most recent first-team member since 1999. She also has been named to the Early Season Naismith Awards list each of the last two seasons.
Last year, the Wilmette, Ill., native led the Wildcats to their first postseason appearance in 16 years, guiding NU to the WNIT's round of 16. Jaeschke has been NU's leading scorer and rebounder the past three seasons, including averaging 16.9 ppg and 7.2 rpg last year, which ranked fourth and fifth in the conference, respectively.
Already Northwestern's career blocks leader, Jaeschke will look to crack the NCAA record book this season, needing just 84 blocks to rank in the top 25 all-time in Division I. She finished sixth in the nation in blocks last year with 3.21 per outing.
The Wildcats will test their talents for the first time this season when they take on UW-Platteville in a 2 p.m. exhibition contest Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Admission is free to all and will include a Halloween costume contest, a postgame autograph session, and plenty of candy for kids of all ages.
Northwestern debuts the season at home against Dartmouth at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12. Other premier nonconference match-ups in Evanston include a showdown against LSU on Sun., Nov. 14 and the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge against Missouri on Sun., Dec. 5.
