For Openers
• Following a second straight narrow defeat on its home turf, Northwestern (5-2) will regroup and prepare for a pair of Big Ten road battles, starting with this Saturday's 11 a.m. (CT) meeting with the Indiana Hoosiers at Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats then visit Penn State the following Saturday (Nov. 6) before returning home on Nov. 13 for their final 2010 game at Ryan Field.

• After having won eight regular-season contests in succession, Northwestern now has lost back-to-back games for just the second time in the past three years. The Wildcats had bounced back from a Big Ten loss with a victory in their eight previous tries prior to Saturday's 35-27 loss to Michigan State.

• Northwestern carries a five-game road winning streak to Bloomington this week after having posted wins over Iowa, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Rice and Minnesota in its last five true road games. Since the start of the 2008 season, Northwestern has won a Big Ten-best 10 road games. NU is 7-2 in Big Ten road contests during that span.

• Despite his toughest throwing day of the season last Saturday vs. Michigan State, junior quarterback Dan Persa remains the Division I (FBS and FCS) leader in completion percentage. After opening the season by completing 19-of-21 passes (90.5 percent) at Vanderbilt, Persa has led the nation in completion percentage each week. He has completed 75 percent or more of his passes in five of seven games this year. Persa also ranks eighth among FBS quarterbacks, and second among Big Ten signal callers, in pass efficiency with a rating of 164.3.

• With one more victory, Northwestern will become bowl-eligible for a fourth consecutive season. Since 1995, NU has posted nine seasons with six or more victories.

• In Saturday's game vs. Michigan State, three of Northwestern's top six all-purpose yardage leaders were true freshmen. Wide receiver Venric Mark led all Wildcat players with 97 yards, while receiver Rashad Lawrence had 67 yards (all receiving) and running back Adonis Smith had 44 (all rushing). Wide receiver Tony Jones (one catch) and defensive tackle Will Hampton also contributed in the game.

• The Big Ten's top two passing units meet this Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Indiana ranks first in passing yardage with an average of 313.6 yards per game while Northwestern is second with 272.7 yards per game.

Upcoming Home Games are Sold Out
• Northwestern's Nov. 13 game versus Iowa at Ryan Field, and its Nov. 20 game versus Illinois at Wrigley Field are both sold out.
