'Cats Nab Sixth Place at Bradley Classic

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Running on the same course that will host the NCAA Midwest Regional meet in November, a strong contingent of Wildcat runners took sixth place at the Bradley Classic in Peoria Friday afternoon. Molly Waterhouse placed first among NU runners and ninth overall, finishing the 6K course in 21:39.
"Our reserve squad ran a fantastic race as 14 of our 16 runners achieved personal bests," said NU head coach April Likhite. "The field was much deeper than last year when we finished fifth with our 'A' team. I'm very proud of Molly Waterhouse, who has shown great improvements and will be joining our group preparing for Big Tens."
The Wildcats compiled a team score of 176, finishing just seven points back of Illinois and 19 shy of Eastern Illinois' 'A' squad. Iowa State took home the team title with a meet-low 69 points.
Northwestern's second runner across the line was junior Rachel Edwards, who crossed in 22:34 to finish just ahead of classmate Abby Tracy in 22:36.
Juniors Hallie Busta (22:40) and Rachel Kaminski (22:44) were also in that pack of Wildcat runners along with freshman Katie Perkins, who finished alongside Kaminski in 22:44.
On Saturday, seven Northwestern competitors will be racing in the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by Indiana State, with start time set for 10 a.m. CT. Complete results will be made available on NUsports.com at the meet's conclusion.
